Apply for the CELTA
How to Apply
All you need to do is complete the application form, pre-interview task and handwritten task. This can be done online, or by downloading the application pack (Microsoft Word). Please note that we recommend using a grammar reference book or website when completing the Pre-interview Task.
You will need to print out the written task and write your answer by hand. Once you have finished, please forward a copy to the school by email, fax, or post. The handwritten assignment must be received before your interview can be conducted.
Once you have paid the application fee*, one of our trainers will review your application and contact you by email to set up a time for an interview. Interviews are usually carried out in person. For out of town candidates, it is possible to be interviewed by phone at the candidate's expense.
EC will confirm acceptance to applicants after the interview.
*There is a $100 non-refundable registration fee, which is deductible from your tuition upon admittance to the program.
EC Refund Policy
In an effort to maintain the lowest possible tuition costs in a labour-intensive, limited enrollment program, EC will refund your tuition less 25% for administrative processing only if:
the course has a full complement of qualified trainees and
EC can confirm the admission of a qualified alternate. EC makes no refund if these two conditions are not met or if you withdraw from a course after it has begun.
Course Cancellation
Seven candidates are required in order to run a CELTA course. EC reserves the right to cancel a course if the minimum enrolment is not reached two weeks prior to any start date. Before making arrangements to come to Halifax to attend the program, please verify with EC staff that the course has met the minimum enrolment requirement.
Transfer of Registration
If for any reason you are unable to attend the course, you must inform EC no later than two weeks before the course begins so that we can transfer your acceptance to another session. If you do not inform us of your inability to attend more than two weeks in advance of the start of a course, there will be no refund and no chance of transferring your acceptance to a later session.
Please note that only one transfer is allowed.
